NAPI Extends Partial Shutdown of Operation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 13, 2020

In response to the Navajo Nation Office of the President and Vice-President executive order (No. 004-20) issued on May 12, Navajo Agricultural Products Industry (“NAPI”) will further extend the partial shutdown of operations to prevent the potential spread of the coronavirus (“COVID-19”). NAPI is a wholly-owned enterprise of the Navajo Nation that operates and maintains a commercial farm with over 300 employees.

Initially, NAPI implemented the partial shutdown of operations on March 16 and tasked to identify essential employees. All non-essential employees were released home and provided paid administrative leave for the extent of the shutdown.

On May 13, NAPI issued a statement to all current employees to further extend the partial shutdown through June 7 with no repercussions. The main office and all other locations, with the exception of Region 2 Scales, will remain closed to the public until further notice.

Region 2 Scales is a store located on the farm that sells Navajo Pride products and open to the public with the reduced hours of Monday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Region 2 Scales is located 6 miles south of Farmington on Highway 371 and 6 miles west on Navajo Route 3003.

NAPI will continue to closely monitor and follow the recommendations provided by health and government officials.

  1. I just want to say I like your product. I had never seen your brand before, however, with the current shortages and disrupted food chains, a small amount of 2 pound packages of the unbleached, all-purpose flour arrived in my local, big-chain supermarket. The wheat flavor came through in my pancakes which has made me aware of the lack of flavor in the brands I have used in the past.

  2. Hi!

When the pandemic started, everyone in my area hoarded all the flour on the shelves and I was very sad. A few weeks later, your flour showed up at the market. I bought a few bags of your Navajo Pride unbleached APF.
It is great quality and much appreciated. I bake a lot. Mostly breads and pizza dough! lol
So, thanks for making flour and being a GREAT option for me during these times. I hope to continue to have your flour to buy.
I hope you all are staying safe!

  3. When are they going to reinstate the Prairie Dog hunting on the Napi? Are they going to have more classes for permits?
